Abstract
During the last decade numbers of people who have sought plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons has grown tremendously.

And the aim of aesthetic plastic surgery is not so much to create beauty but to improve self-esteem and self-acceptance of his body image and the surgery, accurately chosen and properly excuted, has a resonable likelyhood of producing lasting benefit for himself & society, it is very important to understand and their sociopsych- ologic background.

So, we have studied 53 patients who visited our hospital for aesthesthetic plastic surgery from Mar. 82 to Feb. 83 to understand their socio-psychologic background and got following results;

1. They were almostly educated, in lat e second decade female and decided to get operation under their own request after prolonged consideration.

2. They were in low self-esteem compared with the other surgery patients although they thought the site of operation as important one.

3. They had normal personality even in whom thought to be abnormal, so, authors think that we should treat psychologically disturbed or disturbed looking patients in more favorable manner not rejecting them for the only reason that they are included in a contraindicated candidate only.
